Typhoon vs Hurricane

I was discussing with a colleague today whether or not a typhoon and a hurricane were the same.  Thanks to my e-best friend, wikipedia, i learned they are both “tropical cyclones”.  The only difference is the point of origin and that’s what defines it as either a typhoon (North Pacific Ocean) or a hurricane (North Atlantic, Eastern Pacific, and Caribbean).

Ah, wikipedia…your false sense of know-it-all-ness has wooed me again.
